While not a Summerhill game, we enjoy playing Werewolf in a typically Summerhill fashion! Games are long and raucous!

Each player is secretly assigned a role – Werewolf, Villager, or Seer (a special Villager). These are the basic roles, there are many others. There is also a game master who controls the flow of the game. The game alternates between night and day phases.

At night, the Werewolves secretly choose a Villager to kill (they all must agree). Also, the Seer (if still alive) asks whether another player is a Werewolf or not. Other roles can have tasks for the night they do them in turn at the game master’s instruction, then the night phase ends. The Villager who was killed is revealed and is out of the game. During the day any roles do their tasks if required and then the remaining Villagers then vote on the player, they suspect is a Werewolf is out of the game without revealing their role.

Werewolves win when there are an equal number of Villagers and Werewolves. Villagers win when they have killed all Werewolves.

Werewolf is a social game that requires no equipment to play and can accommodate almost any large group of players. Though the larger the groups the bigger the chaos.

A breakdown of the Summerhill version of the game

Villager – Normal person no special powers or privileges.

Werewolf – Able to kill any other non-werewolf players at night by unanimous decision.

Seer – Is able to check at night if people who are ALIVE, are werewolves.

Gravedigger – can checks at night if those voted DEAD during the DAY were werewolves.

Hunter – at night protects one person from the werewolves (cannot be self).

Fox – dies if checked by Seer, wants to survive till the end, wins if they are alive with only one other team member from ether villagers or werewolves.

Cupid – picks the soulmates on the first night then is a normal villager for the rest of the game;
Soulmates (2 people) – like the fox wins if they are still alive at the end of the game, but these roles are given in ADDITION to another role, if one dies, so does the other, know who each other are, want to protect each other.

Thief – must spend one night as thief, then swaps the thief role for someone else’s role, that person is then the thief for a night, before stealing another role.

Little girl – can peak through hands at night, (to see the werewolves) cannot say they are little girl but must be careful not to be spotted or become the werewolves next victim.

Lunatic – a villager who helps the werewolves, wins if the werewolves win even if they are dead, however the werewolves are unaware of who they are, and the lunatic doesn’t know who the werewolves are.
