Any student who has progressed beyond Class 2, has the option to access further lessons in the English classroom. Students provide the teacher with an indication of what they would like to achieve in both the short and long term, and lessons are then offered accordingly.

Learning groups vary in size from a single student to no more than eight, depending on individual aims and skill levels. Activities range from basic punctuation and spelling to in-depth discussions of literary themes and poetic techniques.

Many older students opt for a GCSE course in Language, as this is a necessity for most college courses. Because of the international nature of the school, qualifications at First Language as well as Second Language levels are offered.

For those who like reading, a Literature GCSE is available, although many prefer to enjoy the benefits of reading and sharing insights without the added stress of examinations.

The aim in the English class is to support all students to achieve their literacy goals in a relaxed, unthreatening environment, allowing each individual to fulfil their potential.
