Imagine stepping into Class 2 – a vibrant space brimming with creativity, energy, and engagement. It’s a place where 10 to 12-year-olds explore their interests. As you enter, you’ll witness kids enthusiastically running their own projects, from Lego building to crafting flip-books and writing stories, and everything you can imagine in between. The room is alive with discussions on both profound and lighthearted topics, accompanied by teacher-facilitated sessions we fondly call lessons. In this dynamic environment, there’s a diverse range of activities to cater to every interest and skill level. We strive to provide opportunities for everyone to develop their academic skills and challenge themselves.

Literacy is woven into all aspects of our lessons and projects, with some sessions focussing specifically on listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Some examples of our literacy-based lessons are; a News Club, Book Clubs, General English sessions which provide a space to develop language skills across all curriculum components. And as always we continued fostering a love for reading among our students.

Numeracy, an integral part of our curriculum, is taught through specific lessons covering Numbers, Ratio and Proportional reasoning, Geometry and measures, Algebra, Probability, and Data Science. During our Inspirational Maths course, we celebrate struggles and mistakes, foster a growth mindset, and dispel the myth of the & “Maths-person.”

Our Science projects are always hands-on adventures. Students not only grasp the concepts but also cultivate a scientific attitude—asking questions about the world around them, and investigating even phenomena that seem obvious.

And this is just a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Class 2. Only those who experience it first hand truly understand the diverse group we are and the opportunities that unfold within these walls. Our menu of activities is vast, allowing everyone to pursue their passions and make the most of their time in Class 2.

Drama Project

After the fantastic success of the BFG play last summer term, our enthusiastic students couldn’t wait to dive into a new production, and guess what? Their wishes came true! This new year, we’ve been working on a new production with an exciting new script. Rehearsals are ongoing, and will be ready to present in the Summer 2024 half term. Trust us; you won’t want to miss it!
